PREMA Racing ends up P10, P14 in Budapest

PREMA Racing signed off the opening race of the FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend at Hungaroring with P10 and P14 despite showing promising pace. Lining up with Option tyres from P4 in a race that saw teams split between the two compounds, Kimi Antonelli took an early lead. Unfortunately, he paid the price of a lock-up that forced him to surrender the point and eventually make an unscheduled pit-stop. He finished in 14th position.

Ollie Bearman had to start from the seventh row on the grid after facing a tough qualifying session and also used Option tyres. The British racer was able to climb back and ended on a top-10 finish on a cooler day than the previous ones, and that also featured a few drops of rain that didn’t particularly affect the running.

They will go again tomorrow as the Feature Race will round out the Budapest event.

3 OLLIE BEARMAN

“A bit of a difficult race today. The first laps were good but then we struggled a lot to keep the pace up until the end. I felt pretty happy with the car, and I had a good feeling. A bit of fine tuning and I think for tomorrow we can have a good one.”

“The start was good but it’s a shame I lost the front left during the race. I think the pace was quite strong, and I think we were on the right strategy. It’s a shame to end up like this from the lead. We’ll see tomorrow what we can do.”
