Giuliano Alesi scored first win in GP3 last weekend on the sprint race of GP3 Series. The former F1 driver Jean Alesi’s son kept Jack Aitken behind him and defended the ART driver’s attacks.

During the feature race Dorian Boccolacci finished 8th which would mean pole position for the sprint race. However the Italian driver got penalized because of his incident with Niko Kari.

If the penalty would not be enough the Trident driver had problem on the formation lap and could not even start the race. Alesi kept the pole while Aitken started very well and got to P2 from P4 till Turn 3 then had the first place in front of his eyes.

On the third lap Steijn Schothorst and Julien Falchero had an incident at Turn one which caused a safety car session for the grid.

Alesi kept his position after the restart having Aitken right behind him.

The Briton tried everything but Giuliano Alesi did not give his position and crossed the lines on the first place getting his first GP3 victory ahead of Aitken and Niko Kari. The Red Bull junior finished on the podium for the first time in the series. The championship leader George Russel ended behind the top 3 followed by the Jenzer drivers Maini and Lorandi. Kevin Joerg and Antoine Hubert completed the top 8.

Russel stay on the top of the championship ahead of Hubert 35 points behind him followed by Fukuzumi with 3 points.

The next round of GP3 will take place in Hungary in 2 weeks.
