PREMA Racing stays in the fight in opening Monaco race

PREMA Racing secured a points finish and a valuable starting position for race 2 with Oscar Piastri in Race 1 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Monte Carlo.
Piastri went for a cautious start and despite losing one spot, he kept his nose clean for the whole 30 laps. The race was uncharacteristically clean without safety car situations of any sort and the Australian eventually finished in P8. He will start both the remaining races from P3.
Unfortunately, Robert Shwartzman touched the barriers in the opening lap at Massenet after contact with another car and had to pit for a new front wing. Unfortunately, the car was not in the condition to continue. He will start the second race from the last spot, before positioning on the front row in the feature race.
#1 ROBERT SHWARTZMAN
“The start was not the greatest, and after that, I had Lawson in front when he braked  early and I was really close. I braked as well to avoid making contact but I still damaged the front wing which went under the right wheel. At that point it was impossible to steer and I ended up into the barrier.”

“We scored P8 which was pretty much the goal we chased for this race, staying in the top-10 and secure a good starting position for race 2. It wasn’t the most eventful of races from my point of view but I’m pretty happy with that.”
