R03 – Red Bull Ring – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview
PREMA Racing will be back to Spielberg this weekend as the FIA Formula 3 Championship returns to the Red Bull Ring one year after the back-to-back rounds of 2020. The F3 circus returns to action less than ten days after the previous event at Circuit Paul Ricard and lining up at the top of the team and driver championships, everybody at PREMA wants to ride the momentum and keep pushing. The up-and-down, 4.3-kilometre layout saw plenty of action in the past, so all teams and drivers want to show their full potential heading into the middle part of the championship. The competition will be fierce and the weather is not out of the equation since the Styrian mountains often provide unexpected environmental challenges.
Red Bull Junior driver Dennis Hauger is striving to maintain – and possibly increase – his championship margin coming from a win in the main race at Barcelona and second place at Paul Ricard. However, all PREMA drivers already had their taste of victory in 2021. British racer Olli Caldwell cruised to win race 2 in Spain and now sits fifth in points, while Arthur Leclerc broke the ice in race 2 at Paul Ricard. The Monegasque experienced a troubled start this season but performed exceptionally well when the chance emerged. Now it’s time for him and the whole team to maximise consistency.

“Entering round 3 of 2021 we expect the pack to be even tighter than before. All teams and most of the drivers know the Red Bull Ring extremely well, which reduces the margins to exploit to gain a competitive advantage. In general, Austria usually provides a good picture of where everybody stands. We hope to find further validation for our work after taking wins with all three cars in the opening part of the year.”
