R02 – Hockenheim – ADAC F4 Race Preview
It is a busy time for the PREMA Racing Formula 4 operation, as the young drivers of the junior category will be back on track for the third time in four weekends.
This time, the PREMA crew will be back at the ADAC F4 Championship at Hockenheim, one of Germany’s most recognizable racetracks. Home to the F1 Grand Prix of Germany for decades, the 4.6-kilometer venue is a particularly technical one especially when the drivers have limited experience and – as it’s the case in 2022 – there is a new generation of cars.
The team had a brilliant start at Spa-Francorchamps with Andrea Kimi Antonelli winning the opening two races and Rafael Camara making it a hat-trick in race 2. The Brazilian and the Italian are extremely close in point courtesy of two second places for the former who is also leading the Rookie Championship by a considerable margin. However, PREMA Racing has four cars in the first five spots of the championship, so there is high consistency across the board.
Dane Conrad Laursen and Austrian Charlie Wurz scored a podium and a top-5 each in Belgium, while Aussie James Wharton, who has a podium to his name, was less lucky with race circumstances and sits in P8.
There will also be new competitors at Hockenheim, which will bring even more new challenges to the table. For this weekend’s three races, the goal will be to keep up the great form of late, and possibly even increase the momentum for the whole 5-car field.

“We had a really positive start at Spa, and I think we showed a similar potential at Imola. However, last week in qualifying for the Italian Championship, we saw how conditions can change quickly and unpredictably, impacting the results of even more than one race. We come from an excellent run in the ADAC opener, but we need to keep our eyes open, 100 percent of the time in we want to put together our pace and keep ourselves consistently on top.”
