Hauger takes P3, Daruvala P8 for PREMA at Baku
PREMA Racing posted a third place in today’s qualifying at Baku as the Red Bull Junior pairing of Dennis Hauger and Jehan Daruvala went on track at the Azerbaijani venue.
Both drivers proved competitive in an extremely tight session that eventually saw the top-10 covered by half a second. Hauger and Daruvala delivered under pressure, even if a red-flag situation disrupted the running due to a crash.
In the end, the Norwegian secured P3 for Sunday’s feature race and P6 for tomorrow’s sprint, while the Indian managed to climb up to P8 in the final stages. He will start the sprint race from pole. PREMA is thus in good form in terms of fighting for points and hopefully good finishes.
#1 DENNIS HAUGER
“It has been a better qualifying, which was our focus to improve overall. I think we had a very good tow with the position we had, so we just tried to maximize that. I knew that the first push was most likely going to be the lap, especially with the tires and everything. It was a positive step. Also, a lot of things can happen in the race so I’m looking forward to it.”
Qualifing: P3
Fastest Lap: 1:53.973
#2 JEHAN DARUVALA
“The result is not quite what I wanted, but it was a really messy qualifying, but with the first set I was about one tenth off the pole, and with the second I was really close as well. I’m one and a half tenths off Dennis and he’s in P3. The car was good and I feel I didn’t drive too badly but P8 is P8. Luckily we start from the second row tomorrow so we are in a good position to score some points.”
