R04 Silverstone – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview
PREMA Racing will be back to the FIA Formula 3 Championship this weekend as the series comes back from a long break that followed the previous event at Barcelona. The series will race together with FIA F2 at the classic Silverstone track. The challenging 5.9-kilometer track, located in the British countryside, will welcome the championship for the first time since 2020, and having three drivers with podium finishes so far in 2022, the team is looking forward to the weekend, which will begin a busy summer stint.
In the opening three rounds of the season, all three PREMA Racing drivers scored podium finishes, although they are still in the hunt for their first wins of the year. While PREMA is leading the team championship, Red Bull Junior Jak Crawford is currently its best-placed driver. The 17-year-old American scored three podiums in the last three races and is looking to a smooth qualifying session to keep the progression alive.
Arthur Leclerc is not far behind with P5. The Ferrari Driver Academy-backed Monegasque had solid results, but also a share of contact and hard fortunes. He is now looking for a reset to prepare for the remaining part of the season. Fellow FDA prospect Ollie Bearman will be racing at his home racetrack. The 17-year-old rookie has raced at Silverstone in the past, but dealing with the highly-competitive contest of Formula 3 for the first time there, he will also have to find his good reference marks especially in qualifying to perform well in the races.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“Although it’s already the end of June, Formula 3 is only about to enter its fourth round, and even the half point of this year is still long ways ahead. All our three drivers are near the front, and as a team, we are leading the championship, but there are things that we can work on and improve. In addition, doing a good job in this key moment could mean to develop a positive baseline for the remaining part of the season. This is going to be a key round in terms of establishing a momentum to carry over, so we are looking forward to it quite a lot. We have prepared thoroughly, and we feel ready to go.”
