R04 – Vallelunga – Italian F4 Race Preview
It is a busy moment for Formula 4 teams and drivers. With both the Italian and the German championships entering their crucial stages, PREMA Racing lines up at the Roman track of Vallelunga for the fourth round of the Italian series.
The twisty 4.1-kilometer track is a traditional destination for F4 and has produced good vibes and results for the team in the past. Lining up after three events this season, PREMA’s Brazilian Rafael Camâra is leading the driver championship with Andrea Kimi Antonelli hot on his heels, the two rookies having shared seven wins so far. Five of them are to Antonelli’s name, as the young Italian continues his effort to storm back after a tough opening round at Imola.
James Wharton is currently standing fourth in points, with the boost given by his third place at Spa-Francorchamps. Representing the Ferrari Driver Academy alongside Camâra, the Australian is hoping to close the gap while keeping fellow teammates Charlie Wurz and Conrad Laursen at bay.
Both the Austrian and the Dane found consistent improvements in the chemistry with the gen-2 Formula 4 car and they have both achieved a second place as their best Italian season result. F4 UAE champion Wurz is looking forward to driving on the same circuit where he made his single-seater debut one year ago, while Laursen, who secured his maiden F4 win last weekend in ADAC, is hungry for more achievements.
Angelo Rosin – Team Principal
“We are delighted to see so much progress for our drivers across the board. Their improvement both in terms of driving and as team players is outstanding, and the fair play they are showing is definitely a good sign for us. That said, we know we are only at the beginning, with a lot more races to be held. As usual, not making mistakes is crucial and as a team, we need to be united and execute together. I hope to see our drivers put up a fair fight again, and to make great steps in terms of our championship chase.”
