R08 – Zandvoort – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview
The FIA Formula 3 Championship is heading towards its penultimate round of the season at Zandvoort and with three race-winning drivers, PREMA Racing will line up for a pivotal round in terms of battling for the driver championship.
With one win and one third-place finish at Spa-Francorchamps, 17-year-old British rookie Ollie Bearman was the match winner in the Belgian GP weekend and is now only one point shy of the series lead. The Ferrari Driver Academy racer, who achieved considerable success at Zandvoort in his F4 days, will aim to make another positive step on Dutch soil.
Arthur Leclerc already won at Zandvoort in 2021 and is only five points away from the lead in P4, fully in contention for a move. The 21-year-old Monegasque, also an FDA member, is looking for a rebound after a troubled qualifying in Belgium.
The same goes for Red Bull Junior Jak Crawford. Coming from a costly qualifying mistake at Spa, the 17-year-old American has a winning potential but has recently faced adverse fortunes. A strong all-around performance could hand the team an early crown at Zandvoort, and on the twisty 4.2-kilometer track, featuring banked corners and tight sectors, it will be head down from the start.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We are enjoying a positive moment in FIA Formula 3, and Ollie has been particularly impressive with five podiums and a win in the last seven races. We feel competitive as a team, with all three drivers having experienced good success in the fight for the title. Arthur is only a few points behind, and Jak is still in the game. Their recoveries showed what it could have been at Spa with good qualifying. And qualifying will be key this weekend too, even more so in Zandvoort, where there aren’t many passing opportunities.”
