R13 Monza – FIA Formula 2 Race Preview
PREMA Racing will line up for its home round of the year in the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Monza. The high-speed, stop-and-go Italian Cathedral of Speed will provide Red Bull Junior drivers Dennis Hauger and Jehan Daruvala with a chance to achieve positive results after a promising showing at Zandvoort.
Although the Dutch venue has completely opposite characteristics compared to Monza, having a good run of momentum will both lay foundations for the weekend and cheer up the team ahead of the 2022 finale which will be in Abu Dhabi.
While suffering from a qualifying spin that impacted his whole weekend, 23-year-old Indian Daruvala put up a good showing and even salvaged a points finish. His 19-year-old Norwegian teammate went back to the podium in the sprint race and was only prevented from repeating it in the feature race by an unlucky pit-lane circumstance.
While the title fight is now out of range for the team, there are still gains to be made in the driver and team classification.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We still have things to prove and results to achieve this season and I think that Monza can be an ideal ground for us to regain inertia and put together the promise we showed in the previous round. Monza has a lot of specific challenges, and a lot of effort went behind the preparations to make this weekend as smooth as possible.”
