Beganovic, Aron take double top-5 finish in Bahrain Race 1

PREMA Racing captured a double top-5 finish in today’s opening FIA Formula 3 race at Bahrain International circuit, with Dino Beganovic taking P4 trailed by Paul Aron.

Starting from the fourth and fifth spot on the reverse grid respectively, Aron and Beganovic kept the same positions throughout the caution-filled first part of the race. At what would have been the final restart on lap 12, they fought fairly with each other as they tried to prime themselves for a podium opportunity.

Starting from P18 after losing his fastest qualifying laptime due to track limits. The British racer battled up to P13, making positive moves despite the few open racing laps available.

1 PAUL ARON

“It was definitely not an easy first Formula 3 race. I struggled a bit with the car balance and the tyres behind the safety car, so I lost the DRS to the car in front. In the end, we had a good battle with Dino and finished P5, picking up some points. I think we have great potential, There’s something to work on, we’ll learn how to improve for tomorrow.”

2 DINO BEGANOVIC

“I’m quite happy with the outcome and I think we can work from here. Starting from P5 on the grid, fell to P6 and then bounced back to the fourth place. It was tough and tight but I think the pace is good. I’m happy with the car and I think that if we could have more laps, we could have gotten more, but I’m happy with P4 and being the best rookie. We will work for tomorrow.”

“We got P13 in the end. We have been a bit unlucky during the race with some battles that cost us quite a bit of time. However, in the end the pace was really good, which is positive going into tomorrow for the feature race. If we have a bit more momentum going through the field tomorrow, it should be a bit easier.”
