PREMA Racing signs off tough Bahrain weekend
PREMA Racing wrapped up the opening weekend of the FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend with a challenging run at Sakhir.
The start was a tough one as Frederik Vesti found himself in a raging battle. After making contact with one of his contenders, the Dane was forced to retire.
The incident scattered the pack and making the most out of the situation Ollie Bearman made a stellar jump from P12 on the grid to the fourth place. The Ferrari Driver Academy racer stayed in P4 for most of the race and went for an early-pit strategy like many competitors, but dropped back in the closing stages eventually finished in P14.
PREMA will now regroup ahead of the second round at Jeddah.
7 FREDERIK VESTI
“The first feature race of the year didn’t go as planned. At the start, I moved up to P3 but in the first couple of corners, I fell down a bit. I was fighting into T4 and got into a four-car crash. We ended the race before we even started because the steering was off, and we couldn’t run like that.”

“Difficult race overall. I had a good start, so I managed to get quite at the front and avoid collisions. The first stint was quite OK, I had a bit of a flat spot from the first lap, which held me a bit. Then on the option tyres I was massively struggling for pace, and I was just managing my position for the rest of the race. Eventually, I reached the tyre performance cliff. We keep working for the next round in Saudi Arabia.”
