R02 – Jeddah – FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

PREMA Racing will be competing at the unique Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia this weekend, coming from a challenging experience in the opening round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

The semi-permanent circuit will feature a slightly revised 6.1-kilometre layout which is expected to provide more room for safety. Still, with 27 corners, most of them with very high speeds, it is one of the most complex in the series.

For Frederik Vesti, it will be the second time in Jeddah. The 23-year-old Dane is looking for a rebound after the opening round of the year in Bahrain, while 17-year-old Ollie Bearman will race in Saudi Arabia for the first time as he continues his maiden experiences in the category. Jeddah will provide him with a steep learning curve that the British racer is looking forward to climbing.

The track activity will be held in different conditions between day, sunset, and dark, with the first race almost featuring the full transition, which will add an environmental complexity for the teams and drivers.

Rene Rosin – Team Principal

“We had a tricky season debut in Bahrain, and we are lining up on a track where we had good results in the past to try and start the weekend on the right foot straight away. I think both drivers have certainly shown potential, and we are focusing on helping them take advantage of it. We need to stay focused and keep working.”
