R04 – Baku – FIA Formula 2 Race Preview
The FIA Formula 2 Championship goes back underway this weekend at Baku. For PREMA Racing, it will be the return to a friendly venue as the high-speed Azerbaijani street circuit has been home to positive showings by the team in the past.
The team will again rely on Frederik Vesti and Ollie Bearman. The 21-year-old Danish racer also has a winning history at Baku, having achieved his maiden win there in 2022. British rookie Ollie Bearman will make his debut there and is looking forward to combining the team’s know-how with the levelling effect that can be expected due to the unique character of the track. The 17-year-old has shown great speed and now aims to push forward in terms of his learning experience.
Having a good balance between the long straight and fast corners close to the Caspian Sea, and the tight and twisty citadel section will be key, and getting off to a quick start might provide a pivotal advantage in setting the tone for the weekend.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We are delighted to be back at Baku and we are looking forward to continuing a positive tradition there. I think we showed a great progression in the first few rounds of the season with both drivers, and our goal is to make another step in Azerbaijan. Frederik has already secured victory, and Ollie showed he has the potential to do so with more experience under his belt. This circuit is not an easy one for a rookie, but we are confident he has the instrument he needs to catch up with the learning curve very soon.”
