PREMA Racing claims points finish in reverse-grid Monte Carlo race

A mostly uneventful race handed PREMA Racing a points finish at Monte Carlo as the FIA Formula 3 Championship got underway with the opening race of the year.

With not a lot of chances for overtaking, DRS trains formed and apart from the opening lap, not many changes happened with only one early safety car happening.

Paul Aron rounded out the top-10 with a solid run that saw him control the situation in the middle of the pack. Dino Beganovic followed him in P12, while Zak O’Sullivan gained one spot from his starting position close behind in P13.

Tomorrow morning’s Race 1 will feature Dino Beganovic in P2 followed by Aron.

1 PAUL ARON

“Race 1 is done here in Monaco and, as expected, it was really difficult to overtake, just a single-file race. From my side, it was tough because we struggled with degradation. Stuff to learn and improve for tomorrow. Generally, we also gained good info for the future and for Barcelona. The goal for today was to stay clean and bring home the points finish, and to get ready for tomorrow, race 2, where we start P3 and where the real points are gained.”

2 DINO BEGANOVIC

“Not much happened in the race, but the goal was just to get the experience for tomorrow’s big points race, where we will be starting from the front row of the grid. The pace seemed strong in the sprint, we just couldn’t show it properly because it’s so difficult to overtake here. Our full focus is on tomorrow.”

3 ZAK O’SULLIVAN

“In the end, I finished where I started in P13. Quite tricky to make any move as expected, but the pace was a bit of an improvement from yesterday. I’m looking forward to the Feature Race tomorrow, a slightly longer race with more laps for a few more opportunities.”
