Bearman claims second pole position of 2023
Ollie Bearman posted a sensational pole position for PREMA Racing today at Barcelona, delivering the team’s third pole of the year with an almost perfect final lap at the technical Spanish venue. The British racer secured his second pole of 2023 after the one at Baku, where he managed to go on from that and capture a double win.
Representing the Ferrari Driver Academy, Bearman now has another strong run under his belt and will still rely on a quick pace despite starting from P10 in tomorrow’s reverse-grid race 1.
Frederik Vesti ended up in P8 in a solid qualifying session. The Dane handed up close to the main championship rivals and also secured a second-row start for the upcoming sprint race. Vesti is counting on a solid position on both grids with the goal of securing the maximum amount of points throughout the two race days.

“Qualifying done in Barcelona, P8. It’s not where I want to be, Ollie in P1 did a great job, another pole position for the team which is really good. We just didn’t get it fully right, not much more to say than that, but we still have good potential this weekend, we will start in the top 3 tomorrow, and Sunday we will start inside the points zone. We need to continue pushing and do a good job.”

“Pole position in Barcelona. Almost a perfect lap, left a bit of time on the table but I was happy with the performance, especially because you only get two laps. You need to find the limit but obviously not go over it because you don’t have any back up. The car was perfect, so I say a huge thanks to the team. We worked really well since the test. Good to bounce back from Monaco where we had pace but we couldn’t show it. Let’s hope to score some great points this weekend!”
