Vesti, PREMA secure front row start for Austrian Feature Race
PREMA Racing continued to show great momentum at the Spielberg Circuit. Frederik Vesti secured a front-row start for the Feature Race for the FIA Formula 2 Championship at the Austrian circuit. The 21-year-old Dane was in contention since his first run on new tyres, and was in the fight for the pole in the latest stages to bring home P2 at the end.
Ollie Bearman faced a tougher session. Running for the first time at Spielberg on a Formula 2 car, the British driver struggled in getting a clean lap in and was eventually deprived of his best lap times due to track limits violations. Bearman will start both races this weekend from P19.
On a track known for close racing, Vesti will take off from the ninth spot on the reverse-grid Sprint Race before lining up for the Feature Race in P2.

“We got P2 in Spielberg’s qualifying which is a very very good result. It’s where we need to be. We know what we are fighting for and how many points we need per weekend, so starting the weekend like this from qualifying is very nice. The car was good, there are things to work on for sure, even on my driving, but to be P2 is really strong, and I just want to thank PREMA for continuing to give me that really good car!”

“Tough qualifying today with the track limits. First I have to say sorry to the team for that because they gave me a good car today. We have some work to do for the races but let’s try to keep our heads up.”
