PREMA Racing has challenging day at Spa-Francorchamps
Coming from an extremely positive qualifying performance that locked out the front row for the team, PREMA Racing had a heartbreaking Sunday in the FIA Formula 2 Championship Feature Race at Spa-Francorchamps.
Frederik Vesti faced terrible luck from the start. The Dane spun in the lap to the grid and could not take the start, having to retire straight away.
Teammate and pole-sitter Bearman led the opening stages as he fended off the attacks of his competitors. Unfortunately, a slow pit stop dropped him down one place, and an untimely safety car gave him even more pressure to deal with.
The British racer tried his best to stay out front, but contact resulted in a penalty and a drop to P7.

“I was out of the Feature Race before it started. I locked the front right, then released the brakes and the rear tyres just made wheelspin so I spun and crashed into the barriers. Very difficult to accept. I’m looking forward to a bit of a holiday now, and to come back in Zandvoort.”

“Tough race overall and we had a very good pace. Unfortunately, we got jump in the pit-stops, and I struggled after the safety-car re-starts to get my brakes in temperature and got attacked by the other drivers. The positive is the big step in pace from yesterday so we can be happy about that even if there was a lot other than that today.”
