Vesti, PREMA secure points finish in tricky Sprint Race

Frederik Vesti posted P6 in the opening race of the FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. After the early rainfalls, the race ran in dry conditions, and the two PREMA Racing cars started from row 5 after yesterday’s 1-2 result in qualifying.

Despite a quick start, the pace was not optimal during the race. Vesti got as high as P4, but progressively lost ground as the race went on. The Dane still got some points, crossing the finish line in P7 before gaining one spot due to a penalty assessed to a competitor. He will be aiming for a rebound in the Feature Race.

Ollie Bearman stayed in the fight for the top 10 despite having a tough time fighting within the pack. The Brit, who also had a small off-track excursion due to contact, eventually settled for P13, which later became P12. He will start from pole tomorrow.

7 FREDERIK VESTI

“Sprint Race done. We started P9 and finished P7, I was up to P4 at some point but I just didn’t have the pace today to fight and it was a bit frustrating to be honest. I know we are good at turning things around and looking at data. We will do our best to improve for tomorrow where we will be starting 1-2. Hard work, and hopefully we can have a good day tomorrow.”
