PREMA Racing shows quick pace, scores points in Monaco

PREMA Racing showed strong pace and secured valuable points in the opening race of the FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend at Monte Carlo. The Monegasque track provided an action-packed race in the middle of the pack, although it turned out to be an uneventful one at the front.

Still, Kimi Antonelli managed to maximize his result, ending up in the same spot he started, P4, but posting the fastest lap and bringing home one bonus point, not making a single mistake and controlling the race like a veteran.

Ollie Bearman showed some great potential too. After climbing back to P11 from Row 8 at the start, the British racer survived an early contact with the wall and stayed in position with a great pace despite some suspension damage. Unfortunately, he briefly lost power, dropping back to P15 again, but still bounced back to the 11th position at the finish.

With a positive potential and strategies in play, the team is now setting sights on Sunday’s Feature Race.

“Tough race today. I made a good start and made up some positions and even with the race circumstances, I was able to come back and finish in P11. A bit annoying, because you cannot really overtake here, and with the pace I showed today, we had the potential for much more. Tomorrow with some strategy we can have fun, hopefully we will pick the correct strategy to get some clean air and show the potential we have.”
