PREMA Racing signs off tough Barcelona weekend

PREMA Racing signed off a difficult FIA Formula 2 weekend at Barcelona today as the team continued its challenging run at the Spanish Circuit.

After posting a fifth place in qualifying, Kimi Antonelli stalled at the beginning of the formation lap and was pushed back to the pitlane for the start. Taking off from the back, the Italian showed impressive form, recovering up to P12.

On the other hand, Ollie Bearman continued to suffer from similar balance issues to yesterday’s Race 1. He eventually wound up in P14.

The team will now move to the second part of the Summer tripleheader of FIA F2 in Austria.

“Another tough race. The first stint seemed good, I did a good first lap and managed to get up into the points, but after that, on hot tyres, we really struggled for pace with the same balance issues of yesterday. Also, I had an engine issue that cost me an extra position. We have to get a look into that, and generally, we still have a lot of work to be consistently fighting in the points.”

“We need to check what happened at the start of the formation lap. It’s a shame because I think we could have scored a few points today. We were still struggling a bit with the balance, especially on hards, because on softs the car didn’t feel too bad. We just need to analyse and try to move forward for the next round in Austria.”
