PREMA Racing secure top-5 finish in Spa Qualifying

The Spa-Francorchamps Circuit was home to Qualifying for the FIA Formula 2 Championship today and PREMA Racing achieved a solid P5 with Kimi Antonelli. The Italian nailed a top-5 position in a close battle with the competitors around him. Making his first Spa appearance from his FRECA days, Antonelli highlighted positive progress as he kept improving his pace. He will benefit from a positive double starting position for the two races.

Ollie Bearman faced a challenging session as he could not find the right chemistry with the car on such a difficult circuit. The British racer put together a P15 at the end of the day and will be called to a double recovery on Saturday and Sunday.

The session, which was initially halted with a red flag due to an incident, ran smoothly through its remaining stages in dry conditions. While some rain might await the drivers tomorrow, the team is focusing on preparations for the coming races.

3 OLLIE BEARMAN

“Another difficult qualifying today. We struggle to get the most out of the car, missing a little bit of confidence in it. We are going to keep working, we have two more races before the summer break, so let’s go for it and try to score some points. I’ll be doing my very best.”

4 KIMI ANTONELLI

“Overall we got two positive starting positions for tomorrow and Sunday. The car was quite good today, I lost a couple of tenths around the lap as it was not a really clean one. We need to keep working to unlock even more performance and we’ll see what we can do tomorrow. There might be rain coming, so there are good chances to take.”
