PREMA Racing set for fresh new Qatari challenge in Lusail

F1 Academy will be back on track this weekend, and PREMA Racing is set to discover a brand-new destination at Lusail International Circuit. The venue, sitting in the heart of Qatar, will be home to the sixth and penultimate round of the series. Its fast 5.4-kilometer layout will put the car through fast paces, as it features many high-speed corners and a long straight.

Coming from a double podium finish in Singapore, Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Junior driver Doriane Pin is vowing to keep her championship chances open and fight for race wins, a feat she accomplished twice this year. Representing the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, Maya Weug is looking to consolidate her championship position and also aim for her maiden F1 Academy win as she’s on a hot streak of four consecutive podiums. Last but not least, Tina Hausmann has the top 5 in her sights after coming close to it in the past and showing a positive pace. Driving under the banner of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team, Hausmanm has scored points finishes at multiple times this year. The full-season trio will be joined by Alisha Palmowski. An 18-year-old British driver, Palmowski was a runner-up in the 2024 GB4 Championship with three wins to her credit.

For PREMA, the Team Championship will also be in play, as it recently reclaimed the lead in Singapore. Having recently experienced a test session in Qatar, the F1 Academy drivers won’t be completely in the dark as they approach the event, although competing in a race setting will provide them with a fresh new set of variables.

Rene Rosin – Team Principal

“We will be competing for the first time in Qatar, a track that will be particularly tricky to manage with this car, but we are confident that all four drivers will be able to deliver. We are in good shape, and the collective test went smoothly as well. We are looking to maximize what we can achieve to stay at the top of the teams’ standings, and to do a clean job all around to take all the opportunities we might have.”
