GP3 Qualifying session cancelled

Rain arrived at Monza early this morning, and did not stop until the qualifying session started.

When all grid was about to head to the wet track the session got delayed as the rain got heavier over time. After some waiting, marshals confirmed the cancellation of the Qualifying as the track conditions did not seem to improve.
Heavy rain is still in forecast and as there is no time until the first race, the qualifying session could not be rescheduled. The starting positions will be given by yesterday’s free practice session, which means ART Grand Prix first row, in order of Fukuzumi and Russell followed by Hubert, Aitken, Boccolacci, Schothorst, Pulcini, Maini, Lorandi and the new driver Dan Ticktum completing top 10.

“Normally I want to get pole position in qualifying, but the conditions are quite bad for driving now. For the race it is a good opportunity for us to start from P1, and it is good for the Japanese fans with Nobuharu-san also in P1 from yesterday: I am used to racing in the rain from Japan, and I will look for a good result.” said Nobuharu Fukuzumi about his pole position.

The feature race is scheduled for 17:50 this afternoon, but there can be changes due to delays and unstoppable rain over the Temple of Speed in Italy.
