Correa joins PREMA for 2022 European Le Mans Series
PREMA is delighted to announce that Juan Manuel Correa will compete with the team in the 2022 European Le Mans Series. The team will campaign a single Oreca 07 racecar in the LMP2 class, complementing its already-announced FIA World Endurance Championship programme.
Making his ELMS debut with PREMA, Juan Manuel Correa will contest his first full season in endurance racing while continuing his single-seater career in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
The 22-year-old Ecuadorian-American, who has already tested one of the team’s LMP2 cars, took his first steps in single-seater racing with PREMA in 2016 before going on to race in the GP3 Series and FIA Formula 2 Championship.
In 2021, he made an inspirational return to racing after suffering life-threatening injuries at the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix. Now, he will join PREMA for a new, challenging chapter.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We cannot express how delighted we are to welcome Juan Manuel back to our team. We were thrilled to work with him at the beginning of his career. He is both a skilled competitor and an enjoyable partner, and we were deeply inspired by what he accomplished in the last two years. We are confident that he will quickly adapt to the new style of driving, and we will have a great baseline for the season.”

“I am thrilled to be back with PREMA in a completely different championship to what I’m used to. Endurance racing is a discipline I have always had an interest in, and what better way to make my debut than with a team that I consider to be like family. It will be a busy season for me with a double F3 / ELMS program but I can’t wait to get started! A big thank you to PREMA and to my partners for this opportunity.”
