R05 Silverstone – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview

The 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship will be back into action this weekend at Silverstone, as the famed venue is hosting its 70th anniversary Gran Prix and the fifth round of the F3 series. PREMA Racing will line-up with the trio of Oscar Piastri, Frederik Vesti and Logan Sargeant after an up-and-down event at the same circuit just one week ago. The Italian operation is holding a firm lead in the driver and team championships with Piastri currently on top in standings. The 19-year-old Australian got his fourth podium finish of the year in race 1 before having to retire with a DRS issue in race 2.
On the other hand, Logan Sargeant continued in his solid run with a third place in race 1 and a top-5 in race 2 after scoring pole in Friday’s qualifying. On the other hand, 18-year-old Dane Fredrik Vesti, running for the first time at the tough 5.9-kilometre track, increased his experience throughout the weekend and eventually rose to a fourth-place finish which can lay the foundations for a positive second weekend at Silverstone.
The FIA Formula 3 Championship will be lining up with the same tire specs used last weekend. This will offer the teams and drivers valuable insight in preparation for round 5 at the challenging circuit.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“Back-to-back weekends can be pretty hard in terms of keeping the focus, so we will try to be as ready as ever, aiming to complete this doubleheader at Silverstone with the best results for all our drivers. So far we showed high performance across the board, but we must not take anything for granted. It is going to be a challenging championship and entering its second half, we need to stay awake, alert and fully committed.”
