R06 Barcelona – FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

The second three-race stint for the FIA Formula 2 Championship is about to be completed as PREMA Racing is travelling south towards Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Normally the home to the opening European round of the season, the 4.6 km venue sitting in Montmelò will now be hosting a key turning point in the high-paced 2020 season.

Coming from a podium finish – his third of the year – at Silverstone, 21-year-old Mick Schumacher is in the hunt for wins and will line-up in Spain carrying the necessary momentum to fight back in the driver standings. On the other hand, Robert Shwartzman (20) is coming from a challenging double event at Silverstone. The Russian has the chance to bounce back in contention at the same track where he started his 2019 run towards the FIA Formula 3 title.

Rene Rosin – Team Principal

“It’s time for the team to regroup and push in the right direction in this key stage of the season. We are not far from the top, and knowing Barcelona really well, there are all the conditions we need to be contenders. There is still a long way to go in the championship but this is a crucial moment. We feel prepared, focused and ready for racing!”
