R08 Monza – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview
The FIA Formula 3 Championship is experiencing an unprecedented season. Starting from July, the 2020 series is about to enter its final stage with two consecutive races in Italy that will wrap up the year in Monza and Mugello. Two PREMA Racing drivers are the leading contenders for the title and the goal will be to provide them with a shot at performing at their maximum potential.
The fast straights and tight chicanes of Monza are a multi-faceted environment for every driver, providing many challenges and circumstances to deal with. In the past, the combination of slipstreams, traffic, hard braking made for unpredictable outcomes, and the story might well repeat in 2020.
Leading the driver championship, American racer Logan Sargeant has a 7-point margin over his Australian teammate Oscar Piastri and both drivers experienced their fair share of success (two wins each) and trouble. With chances now running out, maximizing the results and minimizing the mistakes will become increasingly important.
Having bounced back to the podium in Spa-Francorchamps, Frederik Vesti is hoping to make further gains. After facing the unknown in many rounds of the year, the Dane will line-up on a circuit where he got great satisfaction last year in Formula Regional.

“We are entering Monza with our drivers competing for the championship, and we will provide them with the opportunity to fight with each other at their fullest potential. Actually, the challenge between Oscar and Logan is pretty exciting, so we are also keen on seeing how it will end up. But we must not forget that Frederik is fighting back after some earlier struggles, and we hope to see him in the mix at Monza. This year, the challenge for us as a team has been immense, with a full season in just about two months, but we still look forward to enjoying racing at our home racetracks!”
