R05 – Monza – FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

PREMA Racing F2 Monza Preview

The FIA Formula 2 Championship will be back at Monza this weekend, ending its long summer break with a crucial round supporting the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Italy. PREMA Racing will line up at the monumental high-speed venue with its championship-contending pairing of Oscar Piastri and Robert Shwartzman.
The 20-year-old Australian driver has been one of the brightest revelations of 2021, scoring one win in the opening round at Sakhir and podiums in all but one feature race held so far. Representing the Alpine Academy, Piastri is currently leading the driver championship and hopes to carry his positive trend to the fast 5.8-kilometre raceway.
Shwartzman put together a brilliant run in the last couple of events with one win in each and is now standing third in close pursuit of his teammate. The 21-year-old Russian, representing the Ferrari Driver Academy, scored positive results at Monza throughout his career. He will try to leverage momentum with a bold statement in front of the tifosi crowd which make such a big impression on Ferrari’s – and PREMA’s – home ground.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We line up at Monza to keep our positive momentum and possibly gain some traction ahead of the final part of the year. Normally, there is already little room for mistakes in this series, but as the season progresses, the chances to recover from every potential issue become less and less. We are extremely determined to keep up the work. We are aware of our potential, as we are leading the championship and have two proven winners behind the wheel, but the approach will need to be as focused as ever to maximize our performance and results.”
