R07 – Sochi – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview
The FIA Formula 3 Championship is set for a glamorous finale at Sochi, with PREMA Racing and Dennis Hauger striving to secure the 2021 titles. The Russian venue, located in the famous holiday resort near the Black Sea, is home to round seven for the junior single-seater series.
The 18-year-old Norwegian is lining up with a hefty lead in the driver championship and comes from a dominant performance at Zandvoort. The Sochi round will present him with a new challenge on a 5.8-kilometer circuit similar in its character to a modern fast street course. That will make the two opening reverse-grid races even trickier for all the pack.
Running seventh in the championship, Olli Caldwell is looking to improve his position, and with a close bunch from P3 to P8, there might be some excitement on the way for the 19-year-old Brit. On the other hand, 20-year-old Monegasque Arthur Leclerc will try and keep his momentum growing after winning race 1 in the Netherlands and delivering five points finishes in the last five races.
René Rosin – Team Principal
“The season went by so fast, but we feel prepared for the final round. It will be a tough challenge as we are also racing in Formula 2, so six races in two days, but all the main contenders are in the same situation. We are set for one final big push for Dennis, and to support Olli and Arthur in their quest to achieve the best possible result. We will provide our maximum effort and hope that Sochi will be kind to us.”
