R06 Barcelona – FIA Formula 3 Race Preview

PREMA Racing is heading into the sixth round of the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship with confidence. The series will make its traditional stop to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a place that brought so much success to the team in the past, including a debut win in F3 competition.

Coming from two straight pole positions and his maiden race win, Logan Sargeant will be the chased at the Spanish venue. The American (19) bounced back from some early woes to take the lead in driver standings, although a contact in race 2 left him in the clutches of teammate Oscar Piastri. Just one point away from the lead, the Renault Sport Academy-backed Australian (19) has one goal in sight: reclaiming P1 as soon as possible.

Currently sitting fifth in standings, Danish racer Frederik Vesti (18) has also scored one win and is far from out of contention despite a double DNF in Hungary which set him slightly back in the championship chase.

Barcelona, one of the most classic venues of the series with a technical 4.6-km layout, has often been seen as an ideal place to show where everybody stands. Facing it relatively late in the season might add a twist to the equation with four rounds to go in the series.

Rene Rosin – Team Principal

“The fact that two of our drivers are sitting first and second in points must not distract us, because our main contenders are quite close and with seven different winners in five rounds, the championship is still wide open. We are focused and motivated and can rely on some great momentum which is very important going into a turning point for the season. We want to stay on top with all three drivers and make a further step forward in terms of the championship.”
