PREMA Racing has solid runs in tight qualifying session at Imola

PREMA Racing posted P4, P5, and P6 at Imola as the European portion of the FIA Formula 3 Championship kicked off at Imola. The team secured positive starting positions for the two races although could not fight for pole position.

Making the most of a session that was conditioned by an early red flag, Arvid Lindblad delivered a clean lap to secure fourth place and a second-row start for the feature race, while Dino Beganovic will take off one row behind him in the sixth place, having shown good room for improvement at the 4.9 kilometer circuit.

Gabriele Minì had to settle for seventh place, and while he will start from the fourth row in the Feature Race, he is set to take off from P7 in the Sprint Race.

1 DINO BEGANOVIC

“It was a tricky qualifying session, we knew that the first lap would have been the one, but with the red flag at the beginning, the run plan changed a bit although we stuck to what we had decided at the beginning. I didn’t have a great feeling with the car and I wasn’t very comfortable since FP. We are still in the fight for both races though, and we can score good points from our starting positions. We still have something to look into to get a good feeling with the car again.”

Qualifying: P5
Fastest lap: 1:32.156

2 GABRIELE MINÌ

“Not the ideal result, not what we wanted for sure, but in the top-12 and P6, we can fight from there. We know that the track is a high-degradation one, especially with the medium tyres and I think the race will be quite nice to watch with a lot of fighting. We still need to focus on maximizing the qualifying but we can work from there in the races.”

Qualifying: P6
Fastest lap: 1:32.178

3 ARVID LINDBLAD

“I think it was a positive session, I’m really happy with P4. I had a pretty difficult first run, we only did one lap because of the red flag and got it deleted, so we went into the second run with no laps. I put myself in a difficult position. In the second run, I got my warmup right, I tried not to let the chaos in the last corner affect me to deliver a clean and tidy lap. I’m really happy to be towards the front with a tyre advantage going into the Feature Race to the cars ahead. I’m really grateful to the team, I have a great car and I look forward to the rest of the weekend.”
